Great News!! - 17th October 2015
GB7TC the new Swindon DMR repeater was switched on today.
The repeater is co-sited with GB3TD and uses the same single aerial system. Please pass any reports to the repeater group.
Currently the system is under test and will be local working only for the next few weeks.
Many thanks to all of the hard work from the group members in making this possible.

GB3WH Update
We are aware that GB3WH is currently off-air. At this moment in time it is not clear why this is until we get on-site. We hope to investigate the situation later today.
We hope normal service will resume shortly.

GB7TC Swindon's new DMR repeater coming soon to a site near you!
Fantastic news N.o.V approved!!!
Following the meeting of the DMR Engineering Working Group on 9th September we received news that the NoV submitted by Nigel G8VRI last month was approved by RA on 10th September. The new repeater will be co-located with GB3TD, our existing UHF analogue repeater.
We are now in negotiations for the supply and commissioning of a Motorola SLR5500 MotoTRBO DMR base station which will eventually become part of the South West Cluster on Timeslot 2, with Timeslot 1 being reserved for local traffic and other services.
Please watch this space for more updates

MB7UR is now back onsite and operational
Latest news from Andy G0UWS
MB7UR is now back onsite and operational as of midday today (31/8/15).
Rob XUT & myself went up today to return the unit.
I now have the original co-linear and will be seeing Den
M0ACM in the next few days to see if he can help us to make a repair to the metal
work before also returning this to site and commissioning.
The next step will be to arrange to get to site the pole
from G0BEQ to make the aerial higher.

Time Division Multiplexing)
And
the frequencies the RSGB ETCC regional rep has allocated

Breaking News!!!!!
The Group's Committee met last night & a decision was reached concerning a DMR repeater, at the moment Nigel G8VRI has volunteered to apply for the NoV & this is now underway, hopefully the application will go through without opposition. The callsign for the new repeater will be either GB7TC (1st choice) or GB7QJ (2nd choice). Onsite evaluation tests, purchase of equipment, etc. to come, more updates later as stages are completed.

The future Your chance to comment...
GB3TD - Wide-split, Dual-mode analogue / digital - what next?
The repeater group have been wrestling with a number of problems and potential enhancements with GB3TD over the past few years. We have a first class site but do suffer some local (off-site) interference caused by an as yet unidentified digital pulse transmission at certain times of the day.
We are also a key UHF repeater on the M4 corridor and much further afield.
Our two neighboring repeater groups in Bristol and Reading are opting for Dual-mode DMR based on the professional TDMA standard (Mototrbo) but still retaining a conventional analogue option. TDMA DMR would offer us two digital frequencies running simultaneously (well almost! - different time-slots), with one possibly used for local working and the second for interlinking to other repeaters or/and Echolink.
We are also considering moving to wide-split (7.6MHz) operation which would increase the receive coverage reducing current combining losses (swapping cavities for a diplexer) and move our output frequency away from the current localised digital interference. We may also have the option of unattended Echolink similar to some wide-split UHF repeaters.
We would welcome any comments from users or interested parties as to their thoughts on both options or any experiences you may have.
Many thanks
